Mikropolis
VISION OF THE WORK
The adventurous insect opera
Spider Natalie, ant Annabelle, housefly Kostas, horsefly Erdal, ladybird Kurt and millipede Olli have a wonderful life – they live on a grass verge in the exciting city, their food is on the street and their lives are full of crazy adventures! But then Gesine the cricket is blown by a whirlwind onto the little green oasis in the middle of the city and thoroughly spoils Natalie and Annabelle’s mood with her depressing memories of her home meadow. So off she goes into the leaf vacuum, the boys think! But Annabelle and Natalie don’t think that’s fair at all – so they all work together to rescue Gesine and find her meadow again. In the process, they also defeat the dreaded praying mantis.
In their children’s opera, Christian Jost and Michael Frowin tell a humorous and exciting story of friendship, bravery and courage. ‘Christian Jost’s colourful and humorous music grooves to the rhythm of the big city, through which lyrical moments shimmer and the “mayfly blues” blows.’ (2011/12 season programme of the Komische Oper Berlin)
Mikropolis is suitable for children aged 6 and above; the production requires a professional ensemble.
