Concerto for Orchestra

VISION OF THE WORK

‘The modernity of my concerto for orchestra is woven into the fabric of a totally classical symphony orchestra. The sound of the orchestra, regardless of the soundscape in which it is expressed, continues to hold a strong fascination for me. That is something I am absolutely committed to.’ (Christian Jost)

Christian Jost makes his contribution to the most modern symphonic genre with Anton Bruckner’s orchestra. He proves that contemporary works do not necessarily require exotic instruments. In terms of content, he paints a picture of urban life in the 21st century in the four movements. Amidst the hustle and bustle, moments of calm in the metropolis are repeatedly sought out, appearing like oases in the desert. This idea directly references the subject of Jost’s opera Die arabische Nacht (The Arabian Night).
